RIT Capital Partners plc is pleased to announce the appointment of David Haysey
as an Executive Director of the Company, with immediate effect. David joined the
Company in September and will continue as Chief Investment Officer. Prior to
joining RIT Capital Partners plc, he held senior positions at S G Warburg and
most recently at Deutsche Asset Management.

Additional disclosures relating to Mr David Haysey, pursuant to the UKLA Listing
Rules and Disclosure Rules:

1. There are no details requiring disclosure under paragraphs 9.6.13R (1) to (6)
of the UKLA Listing Rules.

2. Mr Haysey's disclosable interests in the ordinary share capital of RIT 
Capital Partners plc and financial instruments relating to those shares as 
at the date of his appointment as a director comprise the following:

   • 5,000 ordinary shares registered in his own name; and
   • Share Appreciation Rights over a notional 124,922 ordinary shares
    granted on 30 August 2005 under the terms of the J. Rothschild Capital
    Management Share Appreciation Rights Plan, exercisable at 800.5p per
    notional share, exercisable between 30 August 2008 and 29 August 2015,
    subject to the achievement of the applicable performance hurdle.
