Senior plc announces new aerospace facility in Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - Senior plc ("Senior"), an international manufacturer of high technology components and systems, announced today it held a ground breaking ceremony for its new Aerospace manufacturing facility near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The new facility will complement Senior Aerospace UPECA's ("UPECA") existing facility and will be developed by Axis Real Estate Investment Trust in partnership with Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad on a build-to-lease basis.
On completion, this new 180,000 square feet facility will house highly skilled engineering and technical employees, boast state-of-the-art equipment and will have comprehensive special process and non-destructive testing capabilities. The new facility will provide increased options for Senior Aerospace's customers due to the breadth of the new capabilities and provide capacity to support future growth.
The establishment of this world class facility supports Senior's strategy to enhance its cost competitive country footprint and will complement its customers' growth expectations within the region. The additional manufacturing capacity is being created as a direct consequence of Senior's continued success in winning content on key Airbus and Boeing growth platforms as evidenced by recent contract award announcements.
Commenting on the facility, Joe Mockus, Divisional CEO of Senior Aerospace Structures, said: "Our Senior Aerospace UPECA business in Malaysia is already a well-established world class operation. Senior is committed to the long-term success of our customers, suppliers and employees in Asia. We are delighted to announce this new investment to further enhance our capabilities in Kuala Lumpur and specifically to support the growth associated with our new contract wins in the large commercial aircraft market."
