Hayward Tyler Secures UK Submarine Pump Contract
Avingtrans (AIM: AVG), which designs, manufactures and supplies critical components, modules and associated services to the energy and medical sectors is pleased to announce that it recently secured orders worth just under £3m, for the supply of high integrity pumps for the Astute class submarine programme.
The pumps, and through life support, will be provided by the team based in the Hayward Tyler (HT) facility in Luton, UK. Hayward Tyler has a proud history of supporting the UK nuclear submarine fleet having supplied equipment since the Valiant class boats of the 1960s. The ongoing provision of support involves both the supply of original equipment and the aftermarket support for the lifetime of the boat.
Hayward Tyler, owned by Avingtrans plc, supports the submarine programme from both its UK facilities in Luton and East Kilbride. Hayward Tyler's sister companies, Peter Brotherhood, Stainless Metalcraft and Ormandy Rycroft also support the UK Royal Navy, including the recent manufacture and testing of steam turbines for Astute. This synergy of skills and capability across the Group positions the business well to continue to strengthen this long term strategic partnership.
Mike Turmelle, Managing Director of Avingtrans Plc's Hayward Tyler division, said: "We are delighted to secure this contract for continued support to the UK nuclear submarine fleet. It's a great win for our Luton team and a clear indication of our commitment to continue supporting the programme for many more decades to come."
Steve McQuillan, CEO of Avingtrans Plc, said: "This is a great win for Mike and the team and clearly shows how we have maintained continuity through the Hayward Tyler integration and are building solidly for the future. This win highlights the engineering excellence within the group that we continue to develop and that underpins our forward strategy."
