Serco Group plc ('Serco' or 'the Group'), the international service company, through its Australian subsidiary, today announces that it has received notification of an initial two-year extension to its contract with the Australian Government's Department of Home Affairs (the Department) for the provision of onshore immigration detention facilities and detainee services. The base period of the current contract was scheduled to expire on 10 December 2019. Accordingly, the amended end date of the contract will now be 10 December 2021. The contract allows for a second extension of up to two years from this new end date.
