Gfinity to operate second instalment of ePremier League Invitational tournament

Gfinity plc (AIM: GFIN), a world-leading esports and gaming solutions provider, has been appointed to operate a second instalment of the ePremier League ("ePL") Invitational tournament. The head to head knockout tournament will see a new group of Premier League footballers and some special guests putting their skills to the test playing EA SPORTS FIFA 20 on PlayStation 4.

The draw will be revealed at 9am on Monday, 4 May 2020, with matches streamed live four times per day from 3pm on Tuesday, ahead of the semi-final and final from 5pm on Saturday, 9 May 2020.

Among the players taking part are Phil Foden (Manchester City), Billy Gilmour (Chelsea), James Maddison (Leicester City), John Egan (Sheffield United), Ryan Sessegnon (Tottenham Hotspur) and Callum Wilson (Bournemouth).

Fans can watch all the action on the Sky Sports YouTube and Twitch channels, the BBC Sport website and BBC iPlayer, as well as on Premier League digital channels. Finals Day will also be shown on Sky Sports Premier League and Main Event, with the tournament once again being televised around the world by the Premier League's international broadcast partners.

The first instalment of the competition saw Wolverhampton Wanderers' Diogo Jota being crowned the winner, after beating Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold in a final that went to Golden Goal.

John Clarke, CEO of Gfinity said: "We are delighted to have been chosen again by the Premier League to operate the second ePL Invitational tournament, where we will see some of the top players battle it out. During these uncertain and challenging times, we are committed to working with sports rights holders, publishers and broadcasters to deliver new content and virtual formats. There were some amazing games in the first Invitational which made for a thrilling broadcast product. We saw great match play as well as new insights into the personalities of the players. It is why this tournament is so entertaining and why virtual gaming on our screens is here to stay.

As with the first invitational, whilst the fees payable to Gfinity are not material to the group as a whole, the programme represents a further endorsement of Gfinity's ability to help our clients find new ways to engage with their audience."
