UK Listing Review - FTSE UK Index Series

The UK Listing Review, chaired by Lord Hill, published its recommendations on 03 March 2021.  FTSE Russell is considering the potential implications to the FTSE UK Index series, and intends to publish a public consultation in due course, to help determine whether associated changes to the eligibility criteria for the FTSE UK Index series should be considered, consequent to any potential changes to the listing regime.  

Accordingly, FTSE Russell currently intends to consult on the following areas:

·      The minimum Free Float requirement;

·      The inclusion of companies with Dual Class Share Structures;

·      The eligibility of securities listed on the Standard Segment; and

·      The eligibility of Special Purpose Acquisition Companies ("SPACs").

FTSE Russell notes that the Financial Conduct Authority ("FCA") intends to publish its own consultation in early summer 2021.  FTSE Russell intends to publish its consultation soon thereafter, and therefore ensuring that the appropriate consultation questions are included.
