NEW DIRECTOR GENERAL FOR THE TAKEOVER PANEL

Derek Shakespeare, Chairman, EMEA Mergers & Acquisitions at Deutsche Bank, is to be the next Director General of the Takeover Panel.

Derek will take up his appointment on 1 August 2026. He will be on a two-year secondment from Deutsche Bank.

Derek Shakespeare, 58, is currently Chairman EMEA M&A at Deutsche Bank. He has acted for clients across a wide range of sectors, advising on hostile and recommended takeovers, bid defences, mergers and private company transactions.

Derek started his career in investment banking in 1992. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank in 2022, he held roles at Barclays, Bank of America and Credit Suisse. With almost 35 years of industry experience, he is one of Deutsche Bank's most experienced advisory practitioners.
