Important changes are on the horizon for UK investors. Join ShareSoc for an informative webinar, sponsored by Equiniti Group, exploring two key developments that could affect how private shareholders hold their investments, exercise their rights and access information about the companies they own. Dematerialisation (DEMAT). HM Treasury's Dematerialisation Market Action Taskforce published its first report in July 2026, setting out a plan to withdraw paper share certificates. The government has accepted the recommendations and intends to legislate in 2027. ShareSoc sits on the Taskforce. We will cover where things stand from an investor's perspective: the positives, the risks for certificated and nominee holders, and the shareholder-rights issues we will be pressing in the next stage. Modernising Corporate Reporting. The government's consultation, closing on 30 November 2026, covers annual reports, governance and remuneration reporting, AGMs, dividends and shareholder communications. Some proposals could reduce the information available to investors. We will set out the main issues for retail shareholders and the points ShareSoc is developing with other investor organisations, and invite your input before we submit our response.
