Fiinu Plc ("Fiinu" or the "Company")
Fiinu Plc (AIM: BANK), the UK fintech group, is pleased to provide an operational update on its strategic partnership with Conister Bank Limited ("Conister Bank"), a subsidiary of Manx Financial Group PLC (AIM: MFX).
Fiinu and Conister Bank have agreed an important addendum to their existing Master Services Agreement governing the implementation, deployment and production environment of Fiinu's Plugin Overdraft® platform, which Fiinu believes to be the world's first unbundled overdraft solution.
The addendum strengthens the parties' strategic and commercial relationship and formalises the updated implementation arrangements, including the implementation timetable, and long-term commercial framework, as the partnership progresses towards launch and has now moved into the production environment.
The move into the production environment ahead of the planned year-end proof-of-concept launch represents a significant milestone in the commercialisation of Fiinu's Plugin Overdraft® technology and in taking its unbundled overdraft model into live bank implementation.
The partnership demonstrates how two AIM-quoted groups can combine complementary banking and technology capabilities to develop innovative new financial products and create long-term shareholder value.
Plugin Overdraft® is designed around the unbundling of a banking product traditionally tied to a customer's primary current account. Rather than requiring customers to move their existing banking relationship to access an overdraft, Fiinu's technology enables an overdraft facility to be provided alongside an account held with another bank. Fiinu believes this creates a differentiated model for customer acquisition and credit distribution, enabling established banks to reach customers beyond their traditional current-account base.
The initial use case for the Conister Bank partnership is intended to support Conister Bank in expanding its proposition by leveraging Fiinu's technology to provide access to overdraft facilities to customers of Payment Assist Limited ("PAL"), which has an existing and growing customer base of approximately 1.5 million.
Through the deployment of Fiinu's Plugin Overdraft® technology, Conister Bank intends, subject to customer adoption and successful implementation of the solution, to expand the proposition over time to new Conister Bank customers and the wider market. This creates the opportunity for Conister Bank to establish new banking relationships without requiring customers first to switch their primary current account.
The parties remain jointly focused on completing the remaining implementation activities and third-party integrations required to progress the solution towards the planned year-end proof-of-concept launch and will provide further updates to the market as appropriate.
In parallel, Fiinu continues to progress discussions with financial service organisations outside the UK and Isle of Man regarding the potential deployment of Plugin Overdraft® and Fiinu's wider unbundled banking technology.
Dr Marko Sjoblom, Chief Executive Officer of Fiinu Plc, commented:
"We are pleased to have agreed the updated framework with Conister Bank and to be progressing the partnership towards launch. Conister Bank are seeing the unique opportunity to leverage Plugin Overdraft® technology, which will support them to establish new bank relationships with 1.5 million Payment Assist customers, plus the wider market, which demonstrates their vision for financial inclusion and potential scale of this partnership.
"Our technology is designed to enable banks to offer innovative overdraft facilities without anyone needing to switch their bank. We believe this creates a compelling and disruptively innovative new proposition for Conister Bank, retail customers and other banks, and we look forward to working with Conister Bank to bring this proposition to market."
Douglas Grant from Conister Bank commented:
"We are pleased to have agreed the revised commercial and implementation framework with Fiinu and to be progressing the partnership towards launch. This product represents a differentiated approach to overdraft provision, with the potential to broaden access to appropriately underwritten overdraft facilities and to reach new customers. We look forward to completing the remaining implementation activities and progressing towards launch."
The Directors of the Company are responsible for the release of this announcement.
