Boku appoints Karim Ahmad as Chief Product Officer

Boku (AIM: BOKU), a global network of local payment methods (LPMs), is pleased to announce the appointment of Karim Ahmad as Chief Product Officer with effect from 1 October 2026, further strengthening the Group’s product and technology leadership. Karim succeeds Adam Lee, who after 15 years leading Boku’s product function, will step back from his day-to-day role and move into an advisory capacity.

Karim brings more than 20 years’ experience with payments businesses across North America, EMEA and APAC. In his role, Karim will lead Boku’s global Product teams and will drive the Group’s exciting technology capabilities by leveraging new propositions, including agentic tools, to build value added products and services on top of Boku’s LPM network.

Karim joins Boku from Bain & Company, where he advised global payments businesses, financial institutions and investors on product strategy, technology modernisation and growth. His recent work has included advising on digital asset and stablecoin propositions for leading financial institutions, next-generation digital wallet products and the use of AI within product development.

He has previously held senior product and technology leadership roles at some of the world’s leading payments businesses, including Chief Product and Technology Officer at Trustly, Chief Product Officer at Paysafe and EVP of Global Product and Innovation at TSYS.

Stuart Neal, CEO of Boku, said: “Karim brings a high-calibre track record of leading product and technology transformation at large, complex global payments businesses. He has done this successfully across multiple organisations, markets and payment models, and his experience will be invaluable as we build on Boku’s strong product foundations to create the next generation of global payments capabilities.

Commerce is global and the biggest merchants need a partner that can turn the complexity of fragmented local payment systems into a platform for growth. Boku’s opportunity is to connect these local payment ecosystems through one global network, combining payments, technology and the operational infrastructure merchants need to grow beyond their home markets. Karim will play a central role in strengthening the products and capabilities that create significant value for our merchants and partners.

I want to thank Adam for his enormous contribution over the past 15 years. He has played an important role in Boku’s evolution and leaves behind strong foundations on which we will continue to build.”

Karim Ahmad said: “Boku has built a unique position in global payments, with the scale, relationships and infrastructure to make local payment methods simple and scalable for global merchants. As commerce evolves through new technologies, channels and partnerships, there is a significant opportunity ahead for Boku. I’m excited to work with Stuart and the team to develop industry leading products that make Boku an even more valuable partner to the world’s leading merchants.”
