Correction: First Quarter Trading Update
The announcement released at 7.00 a.m. this morning contained a typographical error relating to Mark Fryer's name, which was incorrectly displayed with square brackets. The corrected text is set out below. All other details contained in the announcement remain unchanged.
Dialight plc (LSE: DIA.L), a global leader in LED Lighting for heavy industrial applications and Opto-Electronics Components provides the following trading update following the end of the first quarter to 30 June 2026.
The Group previously reported strong and growing backlog (which was well ahead of the prior year) in its 2025/26 Final Results released on 23 June 2026. We are pleased that the Group delivered strong sales growth in the first quarter of the new financial year comfortably exceeding the Group's stated expectations of 3-5% plus sales growth.
Gross margin also comfortably exceeded management's ambition of 45% plus, with the improvement flowing directly through to increased underlying profitability. This has also meant that the Group has exceeded the newly issued, and upgraded, return on sales target of 15% plus in the first quarter of the year.
There were no non-underlying costs in the quarter.
The Group is now in a net cash position and as indicated expects further cash generation during the remainder of the financial year.
Whilst there remains a significant proportion of the financial year still ahead, based on performance to date and the current outlook, the Board believes the Group's profit for the financial year ending 31 March 2027 is likely to be ahead of its' previous expectations.
The Group will report its interim results for the six months ending 30 September 2026 on 10 November 2026.
