Narf Launches "Ranger", an Open-Source Risk Detection Platform

Narf Industries plc (LSE: NARF), a leading U.S.-based cybersecurity group specializing in advanced threat intelligence and software system security, is pleased to announce the launch of Ranger, a powerful new software platform that helps organizations identify hidden threats in open-source software before they escalate into serious issues.

Ranger goes beyond traditional code scanning. It analyzes the people and behaviors behind open-source projects to detect early warning signs, giving users critical foresight into emerging risks and vulnerabilities.

Ranger's commercial launch marks a significant validation of Ranger's technical maturity and operational value, reinforcing its readiness for mission-critical use. With this strong foundation, Ranger is well positioned for broader adoption by further U.S. Government agencies and commercial rollout into enterprise sectors where securing the software supply chain is an urgent and growing priority.

As the global dependence on open-source software continues to grow, so does the critical need to safeguard its integrity. Ranger is purpose built to address this challenge and offers Narf a clear opportunity to scale its presence across government agencies and enterprise markets and establish itself as a leader in the fast-evolving field of software supply chain security.

Ranger: Key Points

●     Narf launches Ranger, an advanced early warning platform for open-source software security.

●   Monitors and analyzes team and repository dynamics, and anomalies in open-source activity to uncover risks and threats, not just the code itself.

●   Targeting government agencies with critical needs, followed by enterprise clients in high-risk sectors, with plans to integrate into broader threat intelligence ecosystems.

●    A SaaS revenue model to include licensing, API integration, and future partnerships with threat intelligence providers building a scalable path to recurring, high-margin revenues.

●   The global software supply chain security market is forecast to grow at a CAGR of 12.5% from 2024 to 2030, surpassing $5 billion by 2030^[1].

Steve Bassi, CEO of Narf commented: "Open-source software underpins almost every sector, from banking and healthcare to national defense. But that widespread use brings significant risk. As reliance on open-source software grows, so too does the scale of potential vulnerabilities. Ranger tackles this challenge head-on by providing early, actionable intelligence, not just on the code itself, but on the team behaviors and repository dynamics that often signal a breach before it happens. This makes it a unique and valuable tool for today's cyber environment and places Narf at the forefront of a fast-moving cybersecurity frontier, delivering a solution with real commercial relevance, growing demand, and long-term strategic value.

"With the product rollout of Ranger now underway, this represents a significant step forward in our strategy to drive scalable, software-led growth and deliver long-term shareholder value. Having already been validated through its use by a respected government agency, Ranger provides a solid foundation for Narf to transition towards a recurring, high-margin, SaaS revenue model."

About Ranger

Narf has launched Ranger, a new cybersecurity platform that helps organizations protect themselves from hidden threats in open-source software - the publicly available code that is now the foundation for most modern systems. Ranger helps detect threats sooner, strengthen software supply chains, and respond with greater speed and precision.

Although open source software offers developers speed and flexibility, it also brings risks as many projects are maintained by small teams, accept unverified contributions, and can unknowingly spread malicious code across thousands of applications.

While traditional security tools usually only detect these threats after a security breach occurs, Ranger takes a fundamentally different approach. Instead of focusing solely on code, it analyzes project dynamics to uncover early indicators of risk. These include sudden changes in contributors, declining project activity, widely reused but unreviewed code, and abnormal collaboration patterns.

Ranger monitors over 11,000 open-source projects and billions of developer events across GitHub. Insights and alerts are delivered via a user-friendly dashboard, API integrations, and real-time alerts.

Commercial Rollout and Strategic Fit

Ranger's initial rollout is focused on further government clients with critical needs. This will be followed by enterprise clients and partners in high-risk, regulated sectors, including defense, financial services, healthcare, and critical infrastructure. These sectors face growing scrutiny around software supply chain risk which creates strong demand for the solution Ranger provides.

Ranger is also positioned for integration into wider threat intelligence ecosystems, which opens up further partnership and licensing opportunities.

This launch of Ranger represents a key milestone in Narf's transition toward recurring, high-margin software revenues, as the Company begins productizing it into a scalable SaaS solution. This forms part of Narf's broader strategy to productize its high-grade cybersecurity expertise into scalable, recurring revenue that drives long term growth and shareholder value.
