First UK art'otel to open at Battersea Power Station in 2022

PPHE Hotel Group, the owner, developer and operator of £1.8 billion of international hospitality assets, is pleased to announce the opening later this year of art'otel London Battersea Power Station, the UK's first art'otel.

The hotel, which is owned by Battersea Power Station Development Company, will be operated by PPHE's hospitality operating platform under a management agreement and is the first of several new art'otels to open in London, Rome, Zagreb and Pula (Croatia).

PPHE's operating platform is fully scalable and is designed to grow through managing fully or jointly owned real estate. The platform provides best in class revenue management and a flexible contract structure for asset owners.

art'otel London Battersea Power Station will be located within Battersea Roof Gardens, a new building designed by Foster + Partners forming a key part of Electric Boulevard, a collection of buildings comprising homes, offices and a new high street which sits to the south of the iconic Power Station. With 164 bedrooms it will feature a new skyline destination restaurant and bar, rooftop swimming pool, as well as a gym, spa, event facilities, a grand café and art gallery.

In keeping with the art'otel brand, the hotel will feature colourful interiors and will be filled with art inspired by the history and heritage of the Grade II listed Power Station. Award-winning Spanish artist and designer, Jaime Hayon, has today been announced as the interior designer and signature artist for the property. Hayon is an acclaimed worldwide designer, with work showcased at high-profile galleries and exhibitions including London's Design Museum, High Museum in Atlanta, Groninger Museum in the Netherlands and Design Museum Holon in Israel.

Boris Ivesha, President & Chief Executive Officer, PPHE Hotel Group, said:

"The highly anticipated opening of art'otel London Battersea Power Station will see our unique art-inspired brand launch in the UK. This provides further evidence of our continued operational and strategic progress since the pandemic, as we continue to position ourselves strongly to take advantage of easing restrictions and the recovery in international travel.

"Our art'otel lifestyle portfolio is strong and we are very much looking forward to introducing the Brand to visitors to London for many years to come."

Simon Murphy, Chief Executive Officer, Battersea Power Station Development Company, said:

"2022 is an incredibly exciting year for Battersea Power Station as we prepare to open the Grade II listed Power Station and Electric Boulevard to the public from September onwards, of which the art'otel forms an integral part.

"When the art'otel opens later this year, it will be a unique place to stay and dine with its stunning rooftop swimming pool overlooking the Power Station's famous four chimneys and art-inspired Hayon interiors, as well as adding another dimension to this vibrant destination that is forming here on the banks of the River Thames."
