How Ticker uses cookies and your data.

Last updated 13 October 2026.

What we collect

Ticker uses a small number of cookies, and our advertising partners may set their own. They fall into three groups. In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland only the first is always on. Elsewhere, analytics and advertising cookies may be on by default.

Essential

Needed to keep you signed in, remember your cookie choice and the country you choose, and keep the site secure. Always on.

Analytics

Anonymous usage data, plus the ad-click identifiers we use to measure how well our marketing is working. If you allow it, Google may also use your visits to show you Ticker ads on other sites. In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland we don’t collect any of this until you allow it.

Advertising

Ticker may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies to show ads, limit how often you see the same one and measure how they perform. In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland they only use cookies for personalised ads if you agree.

To put your own country’s markets first, we work out your approximate location from your IP address, or from your browser’s time zone and language. We use it only while the page is open and don’t store it. You can change your country at any time from the header.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

We don’t sell your personal information for money. When ads run on Ticker, though, Google and its advertising partners use cookies to show you ads based on your visits to Ticker and other websites. Some US state privacy laws, including California’s, count that as “selling” or “sharing” your personal information, and give you the right to opt out.

Opting out stops personalised ads and our analytics in the browser you use. You’ll still see ads, but they won’t be based on your activity. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as an opt-out on every visit, wherever you are. Your choice applies to that browser only, so repeat it on each browser and device you use.

What is shared, and with whom

  • Identifiers: cookie and device identifiers, and your IP address.
  • Internet activity: the pages you view on Ticker and how you interact with ads.
  • Approximate location: worked out from your IP address.
  • Who receives it: Google and its advertising partners, to show personalised ads (what the law calls cross-context behavioural advertising) and measure them.

Your US privacy rights

If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you, where it came from and who we share it with;
  • delete it;
  • correct it;
  • stop selling or sharing it.

Using these rights costs nothing, and we won’t treat you differently for using them. To make a request, or to act through an authorised agent, use the contact page. We may need to confirm who you are before we act on it. We don’t use sensitive personal information in a way that gives a right to limit it. We review this section at least once every 12 months.

Advertising partners

Google’s advertising cookies let it and its partners show you ads based on your visits to Ticker and other websites. Google explains this in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

You can turn off personalised ads from Google in Google’s ad settings, and from many other ad companies at Your Online Choices.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t share your activity with social platforms.
  • We don’t sell your data for money. Some US state laws count ad cookies as selling or sharing it; see Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.
  • We don’t build detailed profiles of you. The only audiences we use are Google’s lists of past visitors, to show them Ticker ads.
  • We don’t track you when you’ve said no.

Manage your choice

Change your cookie preferences at any time. Your choice applies across the Ticker app.

Deleting your account

You can delete your Ticker account and the personal data tied to it at any time, from the app or the website. See how to delete your account for the steps and what is removed.

Ticker in ChatGPT

The Ticker app in ChatGPT needs no Ticker account and doesn’t sign you in. When ChatGPT uses it, OpenAI sends our server the details of that request only: a company name or ticker symbol, a date, an announcement reference or a topic. It does not send us your name, email address, ChatGPT account or the rest of your conversation. Your conversation itself is handled by OpenAI under its own privacy policy.

  • What we use it for: answering the request with announcements and prices, and keeping the service secure and working.
  • Who processes it: our hosting and network providers (Vercel and Cloudflare), which handle requests on our behalf. We don’t sell or share it with anyone else.
  • How long we keep it: request details appear only in short-lived infrastructure logs kept for no longer than 30 days. We don’t store them anywhere else or link them to any person.
  • Your controls: you can disconnect or stop using the app in ChatGPT at any time. If you have a question about this data, use the contact details below.
